A Day Trip to Long Tan and Vung Tau

15/9/2017

On 14 September 2017, I took two Australian tourists on a day trip to Long Tan and Vung Tau. We started the tour with a visit to Long Phuoc. We visited the tunnels used during the war and met a Viet Cong veteran. Then, we headed to Nui Dat and visited the former army base commonly known as the SAS Hill and also saw an old runway. Our next stop was a kindergarten funded by Australian veterans. From there, we visited the Long Tan cross, a memorial site marking those who died in a battle many years ago. We also spent some time admiring beautiful orchids at a nursery before lunch of delicious Vietnamese food by the coast. We continued our journey by visiting the famous White Palace, Vung Tau's unique and beautiful colonial mansion. Before heading back to Ho Chi Minh City, we stopped at a fishing village for some photos. It was a fulfilling day visiting many interesting historical sites in Long Tan and Vung Tau.
